Gola Island is a 500 acre island, half mile off the Gweedore coastline. It has been uninhabited since the 1960s, but in recent years people visit the island to enjoy the beautiful scenery and the relaxed lifestyle of this remote isle. Its tranquil setting makes it an ideal location for budding artists, birdwatchers and hill walkers. The island is also ideal for rock climbing and camping which makes for a great family day out.
A passenger ferry departs Magherallan Pier, near Bunbeg, daily during peak season, for an eight-minute crossing, other times by arrangement.
