Patrick MacGill Summer School
The MacGill Summer School was founded in 1981 in Glenties to celebrate the memory of Patrick MacGill, a local writer in the early twentieth century who focused on the social conditions in Donegal and the plight of migrant workers in Britain along with the horrors of the Great War in which he fought as a soldier. The event is held over the August Bank Holiday weekend and involves high profile speakers from political life, academics, leaders of Irish organisations and writers.
