Carrickmacross
Carrickmacross is an pleasant and attractive town with a wide main shopping street. It is situated in south County Monaghan. near by. The famous Carrickmacross lace, which provided the town with an international reputation is still crafted and sold at the local convent of St Louis. Beside the convent there are some ruins of a castle originally built by the Earl of Essex. There are around Carrickmacross also has some very popular coarse fishing lakes in the area.
