Ballybay
Ballybay is a progressive town set among low-lying hills on the shores of Lough Major, head-water of the Dromore River, a tributary of the River Erne. Ballybay is 13km from Monaghan Town. Ballybay has unique character and is surrounded by rolling green hills and unspoilt lakes and wetlands, and a small shopping street. The town has a history of linen making and horse fairs.There is excellent coarse fishing in the area, particularly for bream. Lough Major, on the Castleblayney road, has also been developed as a trout lake with great fishing.
