Swanlinbar

Te village of Swanlinbar in west of county Cavan is situated beside the Ulster Walkway and Claddagh river, making it an area popular with anglers and hiking enthusiasts. The area is dominated by steep mountains with Ben Aughlin recognised for its unusual shape which are the result of glaciation during the Ice Age over 12,000 years ago. Nearby the Tullydermot Waterfall is one of the Geopark sites that are also worth a visiting.

Swanlinbar was once a popular destination for its spas and natural springs due to the healing properties that they were believed to provide. Today only one spa remains at Dromod Glebe / Drumbrughas to the south east of the village. The waters of the well have a high sulphur content and are traditionally believed to be a cure for rheumatism.
